Overview
RedPearl provides ratings, rankings, and reviews for thousands of websites including the top sites in over 100 shopping categories. Our member network is constantly adding and reviewing sites in a quest to build the best web guide available. Simply search through our site listings to see top-to-bottom rankings of sites in your area of interest and click on the website name to get additional site information and reviews.
Site Selection
Websites are constantly being added to RedPearl by our members and the web community at large. Anyone can submit a site for consideration on our
Add a Site page. If the site meets RedPearl's minimum standards (for quality, content, and relevancy), the site will be added to The Sandbox.
The Sandbox
All of the websites on RedPearl start their lives in
The Sandbox. Sites sitting in The Sandbox are simply those sites that don't have enough reviews to calculate meaningful average scores. Once a site has a minimum number of reviews, it will be moved to
The List.
Newly Listed Sites
Once a site is promoted to The List, it will temporarily be shown on the
Newly Listed Sites page. This is a great place to see the best new sites on RedPearl.
The List
The RedPearl List (or simply
"The List") is where you will find comprehensive ratings and rankings for thousands of sites in hundreds of different categories. As you move from category to category, The List will show only those sites in that category--ranked by Overall Score. Click on a website name to visit the site information page and read reviews of that site.
Site Ratings & Scores
The primary source of ratings and scores on RedPearl is member website reviews. Members rate websites on various aspects such as price, selection, and service. The ratings for these aspects are averaged then converted into a letter-grade using a traditional American style of A to F grading, where A is the best and F is the worst.
- Price--product prices and shipping costs
- Customer Service--availability and helpfulness of Customer Service staff, return policy
- Selection--product variety and availability
- Delivery--order tracking, on-time delivery, protective packaging
- Ease of Use--finding products, product descriptions, checkout process
The Average Rating (Ave. Rating) is simply an average of the member ratings for that site. The best possible score for Average Rating is 10.
The Popularity Score is determined by our proprietary scoring system that looks at factors such as site traffic and search engine rankings. Again, 10 is the highest possible score for this measure.
The Overall Score is a composite score based on member ratings and website popularity. The highest possible Overall Score is 100.
Site Rankings
Site rankings are determined by the Overall Scores. A site's ranking may change from category to category based on the scores of other sites in that category, but there is only one Overall Score per website. Visit the site info page for a summary of rankings for an individual website. (Simply click on the website name on
The List page.)
Member Features
As a RedPearl member, you have a number of features available to you that can dramatically enhance your RedPearl experience.
First and foremost, you have the privilege of rating websites and posting your reviews on RedPearl using the Rate a Site page. Member ratings are combined, averaged, and posted on The RedPearl List (a.k.a. "The List"). Reviews are shown on the individual site information pages.
Once you have rated a site, your rating will show up on The List right next to the Average Rating (Ave. Rating). If you want to view or revise your ratings and comments, you can do so by clicking on your score.
Members also have the unique ability to sort The List by any of the scoring elements. For example, if you want to list sites in order of Popularity Score, simply click on "Pop. Score" in the table. Or, if you want to know which sites rate best on customer service, click on the "Service" column.
Lastly, you can easily highlight your favorites by clicking on the star on the far right of The List page or from the Site Info page. All of your favorites will be listed under My Favorites on your personal My RedPearl page so you can see them all in one place.
